Young Musicians Center

Young Musician Centre is a long term programme inspired by the Ministry of Culture, Youths and Sports in 1971. The aim of this programme was to teach and guide teenagers in the Klang Valley who were interested in music especially orchestra music. The program then managed by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism and later by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Malaysia. The establishment of Young Symphony Orchestra in 1983 and National Symphony Orchestra in 1986 are among the success achieved together with the increasing numbers of professional musicians in the country.

  1. Providing educational and training opportunities for teenagers interested in orchestra music.
  2. To train youths skilled in orchestra music to become professional musicians.

Students aged 6 to 18 years old.


  • Malaysians aged 6 to 18 years old.
  • Fill the application form.
  • Own musical instrument.
  • Never attends any music class.
  • The management reserves the rights to reject the applications subject to the selection.
  • It is compulsory to take the practice/theory music examination.

Modules and syllabus managed by Young Musician Centre.

Music Theory Class
Only for students or individuals interested in learning the music theory.

Music Practicale Class
A special class to teach how to play musical instruments especially orchestra musical instruments.

Class is on every SATURDAY and SUNDAY from 10.00 a.m. till 5.00 p.m.

RM120.00 a year and this includes other learning materials.

Types of musical instruments (Types of musical instruments taught in the Young Musician Centre):
Violin, Viola, Cello, D/Bass, Flute, Bassoon, F/Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussions and Drum.
